n.; pl. -lices, [Gr. notos, back; L. aulix, furrow]
(ARTHROPODA: Insecta)
One of a pair of grooves on the mesoscutum, from the front margin to one side of the midline and extending backward; divides the mesoscutum into 3 parts: a median lobe between the notaulices and a lateral lobe on each side (parapsides).
